If you need gas boiler work carried out in your home or workplace, such as boiler servicing, repairs or general gas safety checks, you can find a local registered engineer with the Gas Safe Register – the official list of qualified gas engineers.
Gas Safe Register is the official list of businesses that are legally permitted to carry out gas work. Every registered business employs an engineer(s), who is issued with a Gas Safe ID card. Not all engineers are qualified to do all types of gas work – so remember to check their ID card before any work is carried out.
In the wrong hands gas can be dangerous, so the law requires that all gas engineers in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey are on the Gas Safe Register. We hold the official list of all registered gas businesses and issue engineers with licences to show they can work safely and legally on boilers, cookers, fires and all other gas appliances.
Boiler leaking water? Boiler making gurgling sounds or banging when in use? Boiler showing error codes? These issues can arise for various reasons, but they tend to be more noticeable during the colder months when your boiler is in much higher demand.
If you’re experiencing issues with your boiler then we’d always advise that you find and contact a local Gas Safe registered engineer who can check your appliance and take the best course of action to fix your boiler issue.
Some gas problems can be more serious and require urgent action. If you can smell gas or you’ve been feeling unwell and experiencing headaches, nausea or dizziness, here’s what to do in a gas emergency.
Within the first six months of a Gas Safe registered engineer fitting a new gas appliance at your property, you can nominate the appliance for a free inspection by Gas Safe Register. This allows us to make sure businesses who are registered as Gas Safe are complying with industry standards and manufacturers’ instructions. Unfortunately, we’re not able to visit every nominated property, so if you’re not contacted within six months it means your property hasn’t been selected.
However, if you have concerns about the gas work undertaken please contact Gas Safe Register technical team via phone on 0800 408 5577 and select option 1. If you have any immediate gas safety concerns such as being able to smell gas or suspect CO (Carbon Monoxide), check out what to do in an emergency guidance and call the gas emergency service on 0800 111 999.
