intu holds gas safety events
We really appreciate our close liaison and collaboration with Gas Safe Register and National Grid as a whole. They've provided fantastic support to us, our stakeholders and customers.
Working with Gas Safe and National Grid we have not only improved our own operating procedures but have made staff, tenants and the general public safer and better informed in their own homes.
We very much look forward to working together again during Gas Safety Week 2015 with joint events in Newcastle and Glasgow.

Countdown to new law affecting landlords and agents in Wales
The countdown has begun for a new law affecting all landlords and agents in Wales being introduced this autumn. In order to improve letting and management standards for people who rent private accommodation in Wales, the Welsh Government is introducing a new registration and licensing scheme, a key part of The Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
This law will mean that everyone who owns and rents out a private property in Wales will have to register with the central licensing authority via Rent Smart Wales. All managing landlords and agents will also have to obtain a new type of licence.
This new legislation will see Wales become the first country in the UK where managing landlords and agents are obliged to undertake training to ensure they are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service raising gas safety awareness
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service remains an active and engaged stakeholder in support of raising awareness of gas safety and carbon monoxide dangers when undertaking Home Fire Safety Checks. Depending on their location, many Fire and Rescue Services in the UK are able to support gas safety campaigns, especially during the summer months in regards to camping and BBQs.
Through the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) and the National Home Safety Committee, we can also promote key messages in-keeping with our partners’ campaigns, for example Gas Safety Week. Fire and Rescue Services are currently focused on raising awareness in the Private Rented Sector.
We're also connected to the All-Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group and the many charities. There have also been opportunities in recent years for the sector to lead and support academic projects.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is seen as a trusted brand that is able to support behavioural change projects. It does this by raising awareness with citizens, showing strong evidence from its risk-reduction strategies, particularly around fire.
