Dispute Resolution Ombudsman

The Dispute Resolution Ombudsman and the Gas Safe Register partner up to help raise awareness and save lives

The Dispute Resolution Ombudsman, which incorporates The Furniture Ombudsman, is pleased to announce plans to work in partnership with the Gas Safe Register to promote gas safety messages to businesses and consumers.
The Ombudsman covers the retail, furniture and home improvement sectors and through its work is in contact with thousands of consumers and businesses each year. Gas safety messages will immediately begin to be incorporated into its consumer and industry advice with further communication initiatives planned for the future.

Kevin Grix, Chief Executive and Chief Ombudsman for the Dispute Resolution Ombudsman:

“As a provider of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), we are in touch with consumers and businesses, including the biggest retailers in the home improvement sector, on a daily basis. This puts us in a strong position to be able to communicate messages to a wide range of people. Raising awareness of gas safety is of critical importance and could save lives, so we are pleased to be part of the campaign to encourage people to only use Gas Safe registered engineers. We hope to promote this message extensively in the lead up to the winter months when many people are carrying out changes to their homes and improvements to their heating systems.”

Gas Safe Register is the official list of gas engineers who are qualified to work safely and legally on gas appliances. By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register, which replaced CORGI.

“It’s important that consumers only use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit, fix or service your appliances and they should always check the engineer’s Gas Safe Register ID card.”
