Information for applicants from EU member states
If you are a gas engineer from an EU member state and are looking to undertake gas work in the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey on either a permanent or temporary/occasional basis you will need to apply for registration with Gas Safe Register. Due to the overriding interest of protecting public safety, automatic recognition of gas qualification and experience from other EU member states does not apply to gas registration in the UK.
Applying for registration
As part of the registration process it will be necessary for you to provide the names, qualifications and details of relevant gas experience of all engineers that will be undertaking gas work in the UK. If you would like to apply for registration with Gas Safe Register please follow the steps below:
- Download and complete the European Application Form, ensuring that you have all the appropriate documentation for all engineers you wish to employ. This information will need to be translated into English. Please do not send original documents, photocopies are acceptable.
- Once you have completed the application form, please email it, along with supporting documentation to firstname.lastname@example.org or post them to Gas Safe Register, PO BOX 6804, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG24 4NB.
- Once we have received the documents we will evaluate the information you've provided against the relevant requirements necessary to carry out gas work in the UK. We will let you know the outcome of the evaluation in writing to the address you have provided within 20 working days of submission.
Before acceptance onto the Register we will contact you to arrange payment of the application fee. All fees can be found on our website.
Acceptance onto the Register is for a period of 12 months and registration is renewable annually. During the registration period you will be subject to a minimum of two work inspections.
