Trevor Smallpeice, Gas Utilisation (Downstream) Advisor:

“The Large Business Forum (LBF) at IGEM are delighted to again be fully supporting Gas Safety Week and continue to highlight the critical importance of staying gas safe when working in the built environment and is renewing its appeal to gas professionals to spread the word amongst fellow tradespeople of the dangers of interfering with existing gas installations when working in buildings.  To enable gas safety on these projects the LBF have produce guidance on sealing sleeves for Fire Stopping and its impact on Gas Safety while refreshing our two Risk Assessments for carrying out property refurbishments and repairs which now include other fuels and activities.  These are for both non-gas workers/organisations and registered gas engineers who are responsible for fire protection and property repairs/refurbishments. All are FREE to download from the IGEM LBF website

For example, 1,200 of our emergency gas engineers now use lifesaving Carbon Monoxide detection equipment every day. Liquid Gas UK

Noelene Maguire, Membership Development Manager for Liquid Gas UK, said this on the week:

"Safety and compliance for the use, storage, transportation and handling of LPG is at the heart of what we do at Liquid Gas UK. We’re proud to support and promote Gas Safety Week 2022 to emphasise the importance anyone using LPG or gas in their homes does so safely.

LPG is a clean and popular heating solution for rural off-grid homes and businesses, however it must be used and stored safely. Which is why we’re proud to be working with Gas Safe Register to raise awareness of the risks, but also demonstrate the huge benefits you get from using gas, such as LPG, as long as you do so safely."
