Our supporters are gearing up for Gas Safety week 2021. Find out what they're up to.
IGEM Large Business Forum are again supporting Gas Safety Week.
Trevor Smallpeice, Gas Utilisation (Downstream) Advisor:
“We’re delighted to again be supporting Gas Safety Week and continue to highlight the importance of staying gas safe when carrying out property refurbishments and repairs. To enable safety on these types of projects we have refreshed two risk assessments which now include other fuels and there is a guidance document under development to provide further clarity. These are for both non-gas workers/organisations and registered gas engineers who are responsible for property repairs/refurbishments. All are FREE to download from the IGEM LBF website”
The British Institute of Kitchen, Bathroom and Bedroom Installation (BiKBBI)
BiKBBI are on board to support Gas Safety Week.
Damian Walters, CEO at BiKBBI:
“The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) is supporting GSW21 as the importance of gas safety remains a high priority for our organisation, our industry and the consumers we serve. Sadly, the dangers of gas pose significant risk to all of our health and safety and therefore all effort should be made to promote gas safety at every opportunity”.
Cadent are lending the support of their Safety Seymour campaign to Gas Safety Week. Safety Seymour is a cuddly caped crusader with the goal of protecting children against the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO).
Wales & West Utilities
Wales & West Utilities are supporting the week, focusing on the legal requirement for CO alarms for rental properties in Wales.
Clive Book, Head of Emergency Services at Wales & West Utilities:
"At Wales & West Utilities our top priority is to keep our customers and colleagues safe. We’re proud to have supported Gas Safety Week since it was set up, and it’s a great annual opportunity to remind us all of the simple steps we can all take to Stay Gas Safe."
Northern Gas Networks
Northern Gas Networks had this to say about supporting the week:
"As the gas distribution network for the North of England, Northern Gas Networks is proud to support this year’s Gas Safety Week. We supply gas to more than 2.7 million homes and businesses across our region, and offering our customers gas safety advice and support is an essential part of what we do. For example, 1,200 of our emergency gas engineers now use lifesaving Carbon Monoxide detection equipment every day. For Gas Safety Week 2021, we will be raising the profile of the National Gas Emergency Service telephone number."
SGN are getting behind Gas Safety Week.
Dan Edwards, Social Impact Programme Lead at SGN:
“Safety is our top priority at SGN and we've been supporting Gas Safety Week since it launched in 2011. It's an excellent opportunity to share important gas safety messaging and the dangers of carbon monoxide as part of this national safety campaign.”
Liquid Gas UK
Noelene Maguire, Membership Development Manager for Liquid Gas UK, said this on the week:
"Safety and compliance for the use, storage, transportation and handling of LPG is at the heart of what we do at Liquid Gas UK. We’re proud to support and promote Gas Safety Week 2021 to emphasise the importance anyone using LPG or gas in their homes does so safely.
LPG is a clean and popular heating solution for rural off-grid homes and businesses, however it must be used and stored safely. Which is why we’re proud to be working with Gas Safe Register to raise awareness of the risks, but also demonstrate the huge benefits you get from using gas, such as LPG, as long as you do so safely."
Merseyside Fire & Rescue
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service will promote the week on social media, and are looking to tie it in with their 'Fire Kills' campaign.
Gary Oakford, Area Manager, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service:
"Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is delighted to support Gas Safety Week. We have for a number of years been actively engaged in supporting the Gas Safe Register in the promotion of its key messages, and in particular the wider dangers of Carbon Monoxide. Public Safety is at the heart of what we do, it is vitally important that people understand the risks and dangers in the home and other environments, the cost of having gas appliances checked by a registered engineer is a small price to pay in ensuring your safety and the safety of those who you care for."
Royal Voluntary Service
Fiona Longhurst, Director of Communications, Marketing and Fundraising for RVS:
“Royal Voluntary Service will help spread the important messages on gas safety to the people we support across Britain, to ensure they stay safe, warm and well”
Theresa Wallace, Head of Customer Relations, Savills:
"Each year Savills is proud to support Gas Safety Week and this year is no exception. Raising awareness of gas safety remains of great importance to us and we continually work to educate our landlords about the obligations involved and work to ensure all our properties meet the requirements. As agents, we play a critical part in ensuring tenants are living in safe and habitable properties and gas safety comes sits at the top of this priority list."
