There's a new name in Gas Safety and it's not Capita
9 September 2008
Capita today announced, from 1 April next year Gas Safe
Register will be the new name and the official stamp for gas safety
in Great Britain and will replace the CORGI gas register.
The Gas Safe Register brand was unveiled for the first time to
the gas industry at an event held by Capita in London. The gas
safety brand commissioned by Capita and designed by brand
communications consultancy The Team, will be signed over to the
Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The HSE will hold the brand 'Gas
Safe Register' in trust to make sure it will remain the official
mark for the gas safety register
The new gas register will launch to the public before the CORGI
register ends on 31 March 2009. Capita has committed to achieving
40 per cent unprompted brand recognition for Gas Safe Register by
October 2009.
Pete Eldridge, Managing Director of Gas Safe Register
commented:
"Gas Safe Register must quickly replace CORGI in the
minds of gas consumers. It's a big mountain to climb, but we're
confident the new brand takes us half way there. The name is
simple, meaningful and speaks for itself. We hope this iconic brand
will be a true legacy to gas safety and registered gas engineers
for years to come."
Geoffrey Podger, Chief Executive of the Health & Safety
Executive, said:
"We welcome the development of this new brand which
will focus exclusively on improving consumer gas safety and believe
it will be a cost effective scheme for installers. We urge the
industry and other stakeholders to do all they can to support its
promotion to consumers as the 'hallmark' of gas
safety."
