Carbon Monoxide awareness week

Carbon monoxide charity CO-Awareness takes to the road to raise awareness.


CO-Awareness Week is organised by CO-Awareness, a charity set up by campaigner Lynn Griffiths to support victims of carbon monoxide poisoning and increase awareness of this deadly gas.

Now in its sixth year, it is set to hit the road again with a series of events up and down the country.  Following an official launch event at the House of Lords on 21st November, CO- Awareness Week gets underway at the following venues:

Tuesday 22nd November - Northern Ireland
Kings Hall Conference Centre. In association with the Northern Ireland Safety Group.
2.15 to 4.00pm.

Wednesday 23rd November - Scotland
Borders College, Nether Road, Galashiels, TD1 3HE

Thursday 24th November - Yorkshire
South Yorkshire Fire and Resuce, 197 Eyre Street, Sheffield. S31 3FG.
10am to 12 noon.

Friday 25th November - Liverpool
Town Hall, Council Chambers.
10am to 12 noon.

Carbon monoxide poisoning can kill. Remember to have all your gas appliances, including boilers, gas cookers and gas fires, safety checked annually to help prevent your gas appliance from producing carbon monoxide.

You should also fit an audible carbon monoxide alarm and remember the six main symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning:

  1. Headaches
  2. Dizziness
  3. Nausea
  4. Breathlessness
  5. Collapse
  6. Loss of consciousness

Fit a carbon monoxide alarm
