Check that an engineer or business is on the Gas Safe
Register.
Check a gas business online
Check if a gas business is registered by entering their
registration number in the 'Check a gas business' panel
on the right.
If the business is registered you will be provided with the
following information:
- Contact details (some bussiness request that their contact
details are not shown on the website. Regardless of this the
service will still confirm if they are Gas Safe
registered.)
- Services provided (domestic and non-domestic)
- Gas type that they are qualified to work on (LPG/bottled gas or
natural gas)
- Areas of work that they are qualified to work on e.g. cooker,
gas boiler, fire etc.
You will also be provided with a link to a list of all gas
engineers registered with the business.
Check an engineer online
All Gas Safe registered engineers carry a Gas Safe ID card with
a unique licence number.

You can check if a gas engineer is registered by entering
their licence number in the 'Check a gas engineer' panel
on the right.
If the engineer is registered you will be provided with the
following information:
- A picture of the engineer (if the business has opted in to this
service)
- Contact details of the Gas Safe registered business
- What gas work they are qualified to carry out

Check by text
To check whether a business is registered simply text
Gas then the business registration number to
85080. You will receive a text message advising if
the registration number is registered.
To check an engineer simply text Gas then
the engineer's licence number on their ID card to
85080. You will receive a text
message confirming if the licence card number is
registered.
